I just wanted to take a moment and let you know how much I enjoyed working with Alex Paen on the recent sale of our town home. I knew going in that the market would be a challenge, and although the property sold for less than we hoped, I felt Alex did a great job working the prospects we had for the best result. He and Bethann Carter kept in touch throughout the entire process, even when there was no activity on the home. The closing process went as smoothly as it could with both the buyers and sellers out of town. Bethann helped quite a bit by actually walking the other realtor through things she was not familiar with and getting closing information that should have been handled by the other team. Wilmington North Carolina is a coastal town on the east coast. It is made up of 41 square miles. Wilmington has a population of about 100,000 people. One interesting fact for our port city is that the mean travel to work time is under 19 minutes. Wilmington International Airport is one of our States most hospitable airports. They serve over 800,000 passengers per year.
The City of Wilmington was incorporated in 1740. English tradition was alive in the names of our streets, Castle, Princess, Ann, Nunn, Orange, Dock, Walnut and Red Cross. The names came from streets in Liverpool, England.
Wilmington grew as a port. Our major export was pine products (tar, turpentine and pitch). Our cotton exchange was once the largest in the world market. Our ports were extremely busy with steam ships bringing in and taking out cargo.
We are also famous for our World War II battleship North Carolina. It was brought to Historic Wilmington in 1961. It is one of our most prominent attractions.
Our industry is rich as well. Wilmington NC industry is home to such companies as Corning, General Electric, Applied Analytical, Takeda Chemical Products, Pharmaceutical Product Development and Screen Gem Studios.
The beaches in Wilmington NC are among the best on the whole east coast. Wrightsville Beach, Carolina Beach and Kure Beach are the closest recreational beach areas. We also enjoy miles of intracoastal waterways.
Wilmington NC real estate market has been in somewhat of a bubble. We continue to soar above the national average as we are a destination city. Our local believe in Wilmington NC home sales.
